Physical and Mechanical Properties of uns31803 

The density of S31803 is about 7.8 g/cm³, which is between austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. Its room temperature tensile strength is usually more than 620 MPa, and its yield strength can reach 450 MPa, which is significantly higher than 304 or 316L stainless steel. Its elongation is about 25%, combining high strength with good plasticity. At low temperatures (-50°C), its impact toughness remains at a high level, but when used for a long time at high temperatures (over 300°C), care should be taken to avoid embrittlement caused by precipitation of σ phase.

Corrosion resistance of 1.4462 

The corrosion resistance of S31803 is one of its core advantages. Its pitting resistance equivalent value (PREN) is calculated by the formula PREN = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N, which can reach more than 35, and can resist medium-concentration chloride solutions, acidic media (such as dilute sulfuric acid, acetic acid) and oil and gas environments containing hydrogen sulfide.

Cutting and forming of Duplex UNS S31803 

It is recommended to use plasma or laser cutting. When cold forming, higher material strength should be considered, and larger tonnage equipment may be required.

 

Welding of Alloy 2205 S31803 

ER2209 welding materials are preferred, and the interlayer temperature is controlled below 150°C to avoid precipitation of harmful intermetallic phases due to overheating.

 

Heat treatment of UNS S31803 Plate

Solution treatment needs to be carried out between 1020-1100℃, followed by rapid water cooling to retain the duplex structure.
