Alloy C276 tube (Hastelloy alloy C-276 UNS N10276/W.Nr. 2.4819) can be considered an upgrade to Alloy C (N30002) with significantly lower carbon and silicon contents. Alloy C had to be replaced due to its significant limitations. Alloy C can be susceptible to intergranular corrosion when used in welded conditions in oxidizing and chloride-containing environments. Alloy C-276 was manufactured to address these issues.

Hastelloy C276 Corrosion Resistance
Alloy C276 tube is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy with the addition of tungsten designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of severe environments. The high nickel and molybdenum contents make UNS N10276 particularly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments, while the chromium provides resistance to oxidizing media. The low carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides during welding to maintain the corrosion resistance of the welded structure.
