  • Strength: Significantly higher than standard austenitic stainless steel.
  • Typical room temperature mechanical properties: Tensile strength ≥ 650-750 MPa, yield strength ≥ 300-350 MPa, elongation ≥ 40%. Significant nitrogen solid solution strengthening.
  • Toughness: Maintains good impact toughness even at low temperatures (e.g., liquid nitrogen).
  • Physical Properties: Its coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to that of carbon steel, resulting in lower thermal stresses when joining dissimilar metals (e.g., clad plates). Its thermal conductivity is superior to that of pure nickel alloys.

Formability: It exhibits good hot and cold workability, allowing for operations such as stamping, deep drawing, and spinning. However, consideration should be given to the springback and processing forces associated with its higher strength compared to 304/316.

 

Weldability: Excellent weldability when using matching consumables (e.g., ERNiCrMo-11). Conventional welding methods (TIG/GTAW, MIG/GMAW, and SMAW) are all suitable, and post-weld heat treatment is generally not required. However, strict control of heat input and interpass temperature is required to avoid sensitization of the heat-affected zone (although the risk is extremely low).
