stainless steel 316L tube corrosion resistance

  • Chloride environment: The high molybdenum content gives it excellent resistance to pitting corrosion (PREN ≥ 26) and crevice corrosion, making it an ideal choice for seawater, salt spray, chlorine-containing bleach, and chemical process liquids.
  • General corrosion resistance: It has good resistance to a wide range of organic acids (acetic acid, citric acid), inorganic acids (moderate concentrations of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, especially at low temperatures), alkalis and solvents.
  • Welding: The low-carbon design allows it to maintain intergranular corrosion resistance without complex annealing after welding.
  • High temperature oxidation resistance: It still maintains good oxidation resistance at moderately high temperatures (below about 870°C), but σ phase precipitation may occur at long-term high temperatures, resulting in brittleness.

s31603 pipe mechanical properties

  • Strength and toughness balance: Typical room temperature performance: tensile strength ≥ 485 MPa, yield strength ≥ 170 MPa, elongation ≥ 40%. It has good strength and excellent ductility and impact toughness.
  • Work hardening: Cold rolling can significantly improve strength (yield strength can reach more than 1000 MPa), meeting the needs of high strength and lightweight.
  • Low temperature toughness: The austenite structure enables it to maintain excellent toughness at ultra-low temperatures, suitable for deep cold environments such as LNG.
