alloy 17-4ph Physical and Processing Properties
Density: 7.80 g/cm³.
Heat Treatment Specifications: Solution treatment (1020-1060℃ rapid cooling) is performed to dissolve the alloying elements and obtain a uniform martensitic structure. Aging treatment is performed at a selected temperature (e.g., 470-630℃) to precipitate the strengthening phases.
Weldability: Its weldability is superior to ordinary martensitic stainless steel, and gas shielded welding and other methods can usually be used. Post-weld heat treatment (re-solution and aging) is generally required to restore optimal performance.
Machinability: It has good machinability in the solution annealed state (hardness ≤38 HRC). However, machining becomes difficult after age hardening to a high-strength state.
