Scientifically Precise Alloy Ratio of uns s32750 plate

The core of 2507's corrosion resistance stems from its high alloying composition: chromium (24-26%) forms a passive film to protect against oxidative corrosion, molybdenum (3-5%) and nitrogen (0.24-0.32%) synergistically enhance pitting corrosion resistance, and nickel (6-8%) stabilizes the austenite phase and enhances toughness. The low carbon content (≤0.03%) effectively suppresses chromium carbide precipitation in the weld zone, minimizing the risk of intergranular corrosion.

 

The Engineering Value of the 2507 Duplex Structure

The two-phase ratio is close to 1:1. Through solid solution strengthening and phase boundary strengthening mechanisms, its yield strength (≥550 MPa) is 2.7 times that of 304 stainless steel, and its tensile strength (≥800 MPa) exceeds that of ordinary duplex steel 2205 (F51) by over 30%. This structure blocks the propagation path of stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing environments.

• Localized Corrosion Resistance: Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PRE = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N) reaches 43, far exceeding 316L (PRE≈26) and 2205 (PRE≈34). It can withstand seawater environments with 10,000 ppm chloride.
• Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC): In chloride-containing solutions, the critical stress intensity factor is three times higher than that of 316L, making it the preferred choice for high-pressure pipelines on offshore platforms.
• Acidic Media Compatibility: Excellent performance in organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid, as well as dilute sulfuric acid and chloride mixtures. However, the concentration of reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid) should be carefully evaluated.
