AISI 316, is a high-quality austenitic stainless steel renowned for its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service up to 870°C and in continuous service up to 925°C. Superior weldability with or without filler metals, making it ideal for complex fabrications. In the annealed condition, this alloy S31600 is non-magnetic, which is beneficial for certain applications. Due to its resistance to sea water corrosion, it is used in shipbuilding, marine hardware, and coastal infrastructure.
