EN 1.4438 plate Chloride Corrosion Resistance

S317L has a high pitting equivalent value (PREN), which is the most intuitive quantitative indicator of its excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. S317L's PREN is usually significantly higher than 316L (for example, S317L may reach 34-40+, while 316L is about 25-29).

AISI 317L plate General Corrosion Resistance

It has good corrosion resistance to a variety of organic acids (such as acetic acid and formic acid), inorganic acids (especially sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid at moderate concentrations and temperatures), and alkaline solutions. Its corrosion resistance range is generally wider than 316L, especially in acids containing halide (Cl-, F-) impurities.

S31703 plate High temperature resistance

The high chromium and molybdenum content gives S317L good oxidation resistance and high temperature strength. Under intermittent use conditions, its oxidation resistance can be extended to about 870°C. In sulfur-containing environments (such as oil refining), its high temperature sulfidation corrosion resistance is also better than that of the 304/316 series.
