This is the core value of S321. Even after welding or long-term exposure to the sensitization temperature range, its ability to resist corrosion along the grain boundary far exceeds that of 304, and is even better than ordinary 316L (without Mo stabilizing elements).

 

s32100 plate High temperature strength and oxidation resistance

The addition of titanium not only prevents sensitization, but the TiC particles themselves can also play a certain strengthening role. S321 has better endurance strength and creep strength than 304 and 316 at high temperatures (usually 600-800℃ range). Its oxidation resistance is equivalent to that of 304, and it can resist oxidizing atmosphere well up to about 870℃.

s32100 steel plate hot and cold workability and weldability

It retains the excellent plasticity and toughness inherent in austenitic stainless steel and is easy to perform cold bending, stamping, deep drawing and other forming processes. It has excellent welding performance and generally does not require heat treatment after welding (this is the embodiment of its anti-sensitization advantage). Common methods include TIG, MIG, arc welding, etc.

s321 sheet Manufacture process

Heat treatment: The standard supply state is solution treatment (rapid cooling at about 1000-1100℃) to obtain the best corrosion resistance and toughness. Stabilization treatment (850-930℃ insulation followed by air cooling) is generally not recommended because it may cause TiC coarsening or precipitation of other phases, which sometimes impairs performance.

Welding:It is preferred to use welding materials of the same material (such as ER321). Keep low heat input and rapid cooling to minimize the residence time in the sensitization zone. Generally, no heat treatment is required after welding.

Cutting: Austenitic stainless steel has an inherent tendency to work hardening, so sharp carbide tools, adequate coolant, and controlled cutting speed and feed are required.

Surface treatment: Pickling and passivation can be performed to remove oxide scale, weld spots and maximize the protective effect of the passivation film. Electrolytic polishing can further improve the finish and corrosion resistance.
