SS17-4PH steel plate performs excellently in atmospheric, steam, and dilute nitric acid environments, and can withstand conventional corrosive environments in the petroleum, chemical, and food processing industries.

However, crevice corrosion risk should be considered in stagnant seawater environments. The age-hardened state has better corrosion resistance to acetic acid media than the annealed state. This combination of corrosion resistance and high strength is a core advantage that distinguishes it from ordinary stainless steel.

17.4 ph material Core Production Process

Utilizing electric arc furnace/induction furnace melting + vacuum refining process, strictly controlling the proportion of Cr, Ni, and Cu elements; solution treatment involves holding at 1020-1060℃ followed by water quenching to obtain a uniform martensitic structure, subsequent age hardening at 480-620℃ precipitates copper-rich phases for strengthening, eliminating the need for complex quenching and deep cryogenic treatment, resulting in minimal heat treatment deformation and low oxidation.

17 4 ph sst Processing Performance

Hot working: Temperature range 950-1200℃. Large or complex parts require immediate annealing after hot working to prevent cracking.

Cold working: Cold forming such as bending and stamping can be performed in the solution-treated state, requiring intermediate annealing. 

Welding: Can be welded using standard processes. Age hardening treatment is required immediately after welding to restore mechanical properties.

Surface treatment: Available in various surface finishes including 2B, BA, No.1, No.4, and mirror finish. Custom treatments such as pickling, sandblasting, and brushing are also supported.
