2205 duplex steel Resistant to uniform corrosion

In neutral salt solutions, freshwater, seawater, organic acids (such as acetic acid, citric acid), and weak alkaline solutions, the corrosion rate is extremely low. In natural environments, surface passivation films can remain stable for a long time without the need for additional anti-corrosion treatment.

Resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion: Due to the high content of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen elements, the pitting equivalent value (PREN) is ≥ 32, much higher than 316L (PREN ≈ 25). In chlorine containing media such as seawater and chloride solutions, it can effectively resist pitting and crevice corrosion.

Anti intergranular corrosion: Low carbon content (≤ 0.03%) combined with solid solution treatment process avoids the formation of carbides between carbon and chromium, reducing the risk of intergranular corrosion from the root. Corrosion resistance can be maintained without solid solution annealing after welding.

Stress corrosion cracking resistance: The dual phase structure suppresses the stress corrosion cracking phenomenon that is prone to occur in austenitic stainless steel, and can still maintain structural stability under the combined action of chloride ions and tensile stress.

SS 2205 steel plate has good tolerance to hydrogen sulfide (H ₂ S) media and can be used in oil and gas extraction and transportation equipment. In non oxidizing acids such as dilute sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, the corrosion resistance is better than that of 304 stainless steel.

Chemical composition testing: By using spectroscopic analysis, chemical titration, and other methods, ensure that the content of key elements such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen meets the standard requirements.

Mechanical performance testing: tensile test, impact test, hardness test, to verify that yield strength, tensile strength, toughness and other indicators meet the standards.

Microstructure inspection: Observe the dual phase ratio through a metallographic microscope to ensure that the austenite and ferrite content is within the range of 40% -60%, and there is no obvious precipitation of harmful phases such as σ phase and carbides.

Corrosion resistance testing: salt spray test, pitting test, intergranular corrosion test (such as ASTM A262 method E), to verify that the corrosion resistance meets the requirements for use.

Surface quality control: The delivery surface is usually 2B (cold-rolled acid pickling passivation), NO.1 (hot-rolled acid pickling), etc. The surface is free of defects such as oxide scale, cracks, scratches, inclusions, etc., and the passivation film is intact.
